Expats
Iraklio hasn’t got that many expats, as most people who move to Crete come for the sea or the countryside, not a concrete shantytown. However a few more have landed recently. Quite often a you hear a rumour of their existence, whether you eventually meet them or not. For instance I know there’s a 32 year-old Welsh guy lurking out there somewhere.

Big News!
I’ve made an important decision in my life to eat a boiled egg every morning for breakfast. 5 minutes boiling and a touch of salt. I also went on my first run in 5 years yesterday. And it was as unpleasant as the last one I’d done.

Inevitable
As I’ve mentioned before, the tiles on the derelict house across the street have been balancing precariously. Now the first one has fallen!
Danae tried to inform the authorities. Typically she got passed between council workers 7 times before she found someone who said they would check it out. It takes something special to work for the municipality – namely a surly, aggressive, responsibility-dodging attitude.

Poppy In The Wars
Late last night Poppy got into a fight with a rottweiler. It bit her on the leg, horrifying Danae and I. We pulled the attacking dog away, but Poppy was very shaken.
Today she’s stiffened up and hobbling around, licking the puncture holes on a back leg. But it could have been much worse.

A walk that’s got it all…
A monastery, a gorge, a shepherd’s hut, caves, an abandoned village, a church in the rocks, an inconcruous bridge and a ‘fyord’…
