Let me tell you why i love Michael Jackson… by Danae Antoniadi

I’ve loved him since i heard black or white for the first time in 1991. I was 11 then. That means for 2/3rds of my life. A long time… No other artist had got my attention till then or since then. Not in the same way. I was mesmerised by him! At an age when I wasn’t sure of who i was or what i liked, he inspired me with his music and personality. He was the soundtrack to my teenage years and a great influence to my life. When he sang “heal the world” i got interested in humanitarian issues, when he spoke about the planet i became environmentally aware. When he wrote the soundtrack for Free Willy i watched and discovered a new passion. Marine biology… whales… He influenced me in so many ways that i feel like i’ve lost a childhood friend. As an adult listening to his music brings me happiness and instant comfort. Like drinking a cup of hot chocolate. To watch him perform has been a dream all my life. Something i had to do before i die. With a friend of mine we had promised each other we’d travel anywhere in the world to watch him perform if he ever did again. I was ecstatic he was coming to London this year… The best possible present for my 30th birthday. We sorted out everything. Flights, hotel, tickets… front rows, great seats. It was going to be a once-in-our-life-time experience, a magical night. And now it has been snatched away from us in the most horrible way. Only weeks before our flight, Michael Jackson died. With him dies a part of our childhood and a dream for ever. He will be greatly missed… his songs will live forever. This is my farewell to a man that has touched my life in a wonderful way. Goodbye and may you rest in peace.

You are beginning on a new path, a new life full of light, full of peace and love… I give you all my love for you on your way. My heart is and stays with you. Forever. Danae

Zara World

There used to be 3 or 4 Zaras on the same street. Then one day they morphed into this  collosus, for all your Zara needs.

The Bottler

He went up. He came down.  Shame-faced and poorer.

Tightrope-esque

Respect to Steve and Alun for walking across the Agia Irini Venetian Viaduct. No handrails and a 50m drop.

Graffiti

It’s a point of contention that I believe Greek graffiti is substandard. (there’s Greek pride for you!) But then I found this fish on a sewer outlet.
